Obituary of Jerome McKeiver Jr.
Jerome McKeiver Jr., 76, of Ocean City, NJ, passed peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, May 25, 2018. He was born on August 13, 1941 in Marion, South Carolina to Jerome and Annie McKeiver. Soon after graduating from Jonathan High School in Marion, SC, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a medic. This experience served him well while working in the medical laboratory at Shore Medical Center. After more than 25 years at the hospital, Jerome obtained his commercial driver’s license and worked as a bus and truck driver. He was an avid bowler, often scoring a perfect game and enjoyed acting as captain of his team at King Pin Lanes. Basketball was another favorite past time and he was proud to act as coach of his Ocean City Summer Basketball League team, leading them to the championship. He was a member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church of Ocean City, NJ and proudly served as an usher and volunteered as a van driver.
Jerome is survived by his children, Cynthia Cooper, Tyrone McKeiver, Tameka McKeiver, Monica Cortes (Dr. Michael Cortes), Jerome McKeiver III, and his siblings, Barbara Walker, Valera Thomas, Cynthia Harrison, Tonja McKeiver, Ross McKeiver, Tremayne McKeiver, his ex-wife Peggy McKeiver, and many grandchildren whom he adored.
His Funeral Service will be offered Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock from St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, Eighth Street at Central Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from ten o’clock until the time of service. Burial will follow in Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Cape May Court House, NJ.
