Obituary of Thomas McNeely

Thomas Paul McNeely, 71, passed away at home in Mays Landing, New Jersey on November 14, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 9, 1947, to the late Cecelia McNeely (née Murphy) and David McNeely. Originally from Chatham, New Jersey, Tom was a graduate of Chatham High School and Villanova University. He pursued a career in law enforcement with the Summit, New Jersey Police Department, retiring at the rank of Sergeant, and went on to provide security services at several New Jersey high schools. Tom loved Villanova basketball, golfing, and his puzzle books, and was best known for his indefatigable sense of humor – which persisted even throughout his illness.

He is survived by his wife Margit McNeely (née Szabo) of Mays Landing; his sons Ryan Thomas McNeely of New Orleans, Louisiana and Kyle David McNeely of New York, New York; his siblings Constance Horner (Charles) of Delray Beach, Florida; David McNeely (Graciela) of Winter Garden, Florida; Polly Birrell (Stephen) of Williamstown, Massachusetts; and Donald McNeely (Christine) of Jacksonville, North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
