Obituary of Theresa M. McGinty

Theresa M. McGinty, age 71, passed away at her home in Egg Harbor Township surrounded by family on Sunday, June 21, 2020. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in the Fairmount section of the city. She graduated from John W. Hallahan High School. After being married, she lived in Roxborough for over 40 years. She was an active member of St. Josaphat’s parish. Theresa was a kind, gentle person who helped anyone in need. She enjoyed bingo, crafts and the casino. She retired to Egg Harbor Township almost ten years ago. Theresa is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Dennis McGinty. She was the loving mother of daughter, Tracey, and sons, Patrick and Stephen. Mother-in-law to Angela and Brenda. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Marie Massa and Frances Gessler and brother, Joseph Mazur, her brother-in-law, Thomas Gessler and sister-in-law Beth Mazur. She was the adored grandmother (Grammy) of Samantha, Kyle, Caitlyn, Brendan, Megan, Ryan, Aaron, and Nicholas, great-grandmother of Avery and Emberly, and Aunt-Grammy to Lauren. She is survived additionally by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Mazur, her brother-in-law, Barry Massa, and grandson, Dennis, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Mass will be held at St. Josaphat’s in Manayunk in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2020. There will be a viewing time preceding Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Following Mass there will be a procession to Westminster Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA where Theresa will be placed in her final resting place. All are welcome to attend. Please note that social distancing and masks are required at the church. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date when it is more comfortable and safer for large social gatherings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresa’s name to The Fight Like Frank Foundation, 565 East St. Andrews Drive, Media, PA 19063.
