John Andrew Gill, age 90, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, John lived in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania; Newark, Delaware; and Sea Isle City, New Jersey. He graduated from Ridley Park High School and Goldey-Beacom College. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the United States Marine Corps. John worked at the Delaware City Refinery until retiring in 1999 to his Sea Isle City beach house with his loving wife, Nancy, of 65 years. John loved spending time with his family and friends, watching the Phillies, Eagles, and Penn State Football, and soaking up the sun on the deck with his wife.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, welcoming demeanor, and one of a kind personality by all who knew him.
John is survived by his children, John Jr. and Kelly (Billy) Porter; his granddaughters, Kate and Erin Porter; his nieces, Rhonda (Lynn) Mitchell and Cheryl Dugan; and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Kimberly; his grandson, Kyle Porter; his sister-in-law, Frances Ramirez; his brother-in-law, Joseph Formica; his parents, Reginald and Emma; and his brother, Reginald Jr..
A visitation and service will be held on Thursday, March 16 at 10:00AM at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 S. Shore Rd, Palermo, NJ 08223. A burial will take place following the visitation and service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory online to either the National MS Society at nationalmssociety.org/donate or the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org/donate. These foundations are to support his family members who have been affected by these diseases.
John will be dearly missed, and his family wishes to thank everyone for their love and support.
