Obituary of Brian Joseph O'Neill

Brian Joseph O'Neill, 45, passed away suddenly on May 14, 2023. Brian was born in Philadelphia and resided in the Cayman Islands with his wife Mary and son Connor Benjamin.  He was a graduate of Chestnut Hill Academy and Georgetown University.  He was employed by Knighthead Annuity & Life Assurance Company as Chief Actuary and Director of Reinsurance.

Brian was a loving husband to Mary Bitanga O’Neill, doting father to Connor Benjamin, son to Joseph and Robbyn O’Neill, grandson to Marianne Patnovic, brother to Siobhan Gallagher (Patrick) and Meghan Whitenack (Peter) and uncle to Hanna Gallagher, Fionn Gallagher, Reilly Gallagher, Dylan Whitenack and Crosby Whitenack. Brian was also son-in-law to Benjamin and Marilyn Bitanga, brother-in-law to James Bitanga, Miguel Bitanga (Mara), Kristine Cuenca (Rey), Paolo Bitanga (Karinna) and Nicole Bitanga and a fantastic uncle to Martina, Sebastian and Augustine. 

Brian was preceded in death by grandfathers Eugene O’Neill and Joseph Patnovic and grandmother Teresa O’Neill.

Brian was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and brought great luck to his Eagles, Sixers and Phillies this year. He adored his family, friends and running on the beach in Sea Isle City. He was passionate about coaching his Little League team, writing poetry, gourmet cooking and always brought fun and competition to the table. He was a man with a lion’s heart, an angel’s soul and a smile that lit up every room.

His Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 11 o'clock from the Church of the Resurrection of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 200 West Tuckahoe Road, Marmora, NJ.
